Canadian distance education technology helps train nurses in Caribbean countries

According to the Pan American Health Organization, approximately 35 percent of nursing positions in the Caribbean go unfilled. On January 26th, Ryerson Universitys G. Raymond Chang School and the University of West Indies (UWI) will launch a state-of-the-art distance education program for nurses enrolled at UWI so they can more easily access the training they need.

The program designed by Ryersons Chang School leverages educationalmedia to enable UWI to more effectively increase its capacity and provide training to nurses throughout the Caribbean, says G. Raymond Chang (PhD Hon.), Chancellor of Ryerson University, who was born and raised in Jamaica.
