A few days ago, I suggested my art history professor to visit one of the most spectacular village in the Luberon region where we can see paper being made through machines from hundreds of years ago rather than seeing an ordinary cathedral in another village.

Paper displayed in the shop were not ordinary paper that we would see in Office Max or Office Depot.? They were paper with real treasures inside them.? There were flowers inside some of the paper creating a lovely aroma.? Some had leaves inside them and some others had confetti.? One set of papers even had scraps from jeans.? The edges had unclean cut, but imperfect things are beautiful.? The paper also had a rough texture creating a value to the sense of touch.

Fontaine de Vaucluse is the place where the river, la Sorgue, commences.? What’s absolutely fascinating about this river as not only it has one of the freshest water in the world, but also, no one knows from where the water is coming.

As we were heading back to school, I asked students for their thoughts on Fontaine de Vaucluse.

As we drove through the Luberon region, we followed the street signs saying “Fontaine de Vaucluse.”? The minute we approached a giant bridge, we could see water in the most gorgeous color, turquoise, running down the stream.? We followed the river, la Sorgue, and once we hit the end of the river, we came across a very breathtaking scene that caused everyone in the car to say “Woooooaaaaah!”? Mountains raised above the land in the backdrop.? Green leaves adorn the rocky mountains.? Little simple buildings rest along both sides of the river.? Red leaves sit over the fences on the patios.? A wheel by the river stands motionless.? In spite of a large number of clouds in the sky, the sun peaks through and shines the entire village.

After spending few moments admiring the scenery, we headed to the museum where we could see machines used to make paper.

After having parked the car,Replica Chanel, we walked up the hill to visit Moulin à Papier, a museum and a shop displaying paper made from machines that were built hundreds of years ago.? Right by the museum, we could see water rushing down the stream in a speed of a bullet creating white splashes.? The students and the professor were in a complete awe of the scene.

Guess that’s it for now? Perhaps once I play the game proper, in the comfort of my home, my attitude will change (I believe my retail review copy is in the mail). Till then…

The day before, Saturday, was supposed to be a pleasant afternoon filled to the brim with SF4 at Dave Mauro’s apartment. Unfortunately, I was only there for a little less than an hour, thanks to… you guessed it… the bloated, corrupt, and soul sucking entity that is the MTA. Like last time, I’ll spare everyone the 50,000 tirade till the moment is truly right (such as when I finally end up in jail for punching out a subway worker), but suffice to say, yet another splendid weekend ruined by the trains. I just love how nowadays, you have to leave for anything about, no joke, two hours in advance on the weekends. Despite living in Manhattan, it practically feel like Long Island.

Earlier this afternoon I was chastised by a friend over my last update, though in the nicest way possible. Basically: “If you’d just update your damn site in bits and pieces over the course of a week instead of waiting till the very end, you wouldn’t have some gigantic monster post that, no offense, can be a pain in the ass to get through. The fact that you actually sectionalized the last one by day of the week was just plain silly.” And you know, dude has a point. Well with that in mind…

At Least They Like Me In Japan

Time real quick for a few game related vids, including…

- This was passed along earlier this afternoon by Konami, though when I went to see if anyone else had already uploaded it on YouTube, I found a couple that were two days old (guess it was leaked? whatever, they still saved me the trouble): the latest teaser trailer of Metal Gear Solid Touch.

Well… at the very least, the game looks really nice! Though I have serious doubts as to how well it will play, especially with such graphics being pushed. Long story short: the thing about the iPhone and iPod Touch, as I’ve discovered over the course of designing games for them myself, is that each of the four machines (iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 1st Gen, iPod Touch 2nd Gen) operate at vastly different clock speeds, which makes pushing 3D graphics cleanly and consistently across the board a tricky task indeed. It’s not so obvious now, this early into the life cycle of the platform, but it’ll soon become a very apparent issue, especially when the third iteration of the iPhone comes out later this year, unless Apple releases firmware that unifies the clock speeds for all the devices (which isn’t completely out of the real of possibility).

But at least I’m a star in Japan! Unfortunately… all night long I’ve been trying to provide proof of this. There’s this Japanese television special, on the upcoming GameCenter CX 2, which features me (I was interviewed at the New York Asian Film Festival, which is where it premiered last summer), though for some stupid reason, YouTube refuses to accept the file. Maybe I’ll have better luck tomorrow. It’s too late/I’m too tired to fiddle around with it yet again. Till next time!

Anyhow, this past weekend’s highlight would have been the higher than normal number of MTA garbage collectors who do nothing but just shoot the sh*t with one another, simply lounging around the filthy stations and train cars that they should be cleaning. Which I will again repeat: they get paid an insane salary of $64,000 a year to do, and for a while they forked over NOTHING for health insurance. To think, one of the main reasons why they went on strike a while back was because they were asked to give up an outrageous 0.2% of their income for benefits that many New Yorkers, myself included, cannot even afford. Yet all those dumb f*cks were trumped by the token booth operator on 50th Street and 8th Ave on the A/C/E line, who got so annoyed when I interrupted his newspaper reading to ask him some questions that he gave me the finger. Then, when I got upset, no more so than any other normal person I’d like to think, he threatened to have me kicked out of the station/arrested by calling the police. As it’s been pointed out by so many others, there’s a reason why it’s a felony offense to lay one finger on a MTA employee. Again, it’s downright pathetic that these subway jerk-offs have the same rights as cops and schoolteachers. They’re the main reason why I’m increasingly becoming a Republican, at leas the part about wanting to do away with unions.

- I mentioned this one in passing a while back, and here we have some gameplay footage of Yuusha 30, the RPG that plays everything out in thirty second increments. It’s not quite WarioWare: the RPG that I was hoping it might be, yet it still looks and sounds really neat. For more info, just head on over to the IC forums? thread on the game.

I personally didn’t mind Hugh Jackman as host. Many wondered why they just didn’t get another comic, and the reason is fairly obvious: with no Bush regime to use as the focal point of cheap/no-brainer political jokes, the Hollywood elite themselves would have taken up the brunt instead, and we all know how well actors and actresses react when it comes to being made fun off. Anyway,Replica Chanel, he was fairly entertaining, doing the best he could, given what he had, and I especially enjoyed his opening song and dance number, but it’s awfully hard to believe the dude is straight, I’m sorry. Back to politics: with Obama in charge, I was really afraid of celebrities moving onto the current crisis, that being the economy, and there’s nothing more douchey than some filthy rich Hollywood phony trying to appear sympathetic to the little guy, but we thankfully got mostly b.s. free acceptance speeches, with some glaring exceptions. Most presenters were also fairly innocuous as well, except for Bill Maher not surprisingly. What an a**shole. His constant bitching and moaning about that dumb anti-religious documentary of his not getting nominated is beyond pathetic; the dude claims it wasn’t chosen due to its subject matter, but what about the possibility that it just wasn’t any good? Actually, a friend of mine did see it and said it was decent, but the whole thing would have a thousand times better if Maher weren?t in it.

Best speech? By far that French dude who balanced his Oscar on his chin. Who, as some might have caught, Maher needlessly bashed afterward. What an incredible a**hole! Though it would have most definitely been Mickey Rourke, based upon his awesome acceptance speech from the Spirit Awards most recently. Again, the poor fellow didn’t win because the academy voters can’t stand people who don’t take themselves seriously, and as a result exposes everyone for being the dicks that they are. Enough Rourke rambling and back to the show: I also found that Pineapple Express skit funny as well, but only because of James Franco, whom I’m a fan of. Didn’t mind Seth Rogan, but I definitely fail to understand why he’s so popular. While Katie has a far harsher stance on the guy, whom she feels is one of the driving forces behind males in comedies becoming castrated nowadays. Anyhow, in the end, Joe and myself got nice and toasty, Katie had a good time watching the two of us get toasty, the deviled eggs were better than ever this time around, plus June ended up doing the hambone at a certain for some reason that I don’t remember, so ultimately a great time was had by all!

The basic story of the show was how Mickey Rourke got robbed, plain and simple. The dude gave the performance of a lifetime, plain and simple. Only a person like Rourke, with all that he’s gone through in real life, could have done The Wrestler the way that he did. Though most importantly, and aside from the fact that he would have genuinely appreciated the award, Rourke was man enough to admit that he really wanted it! I’m so sick and tired of the “I don’t give a damn about Hollywood and awards” posturing that douchebags like Sean Penn loves to engage in, especially since it’s all just a shtick anyway. Which is why it’s even worse that the jerk-off won. But he played a gay guy, and as we all know, there’s a definite hierarchy when it comes to the criteria for receiving said award (though I guess this year proved once and for all that gays are above retards, since Penn was only nominated for I Am Sam and didn’t win). Sorry, but I guess I’m still annoyed by his pompous attitude a few years back when he bit got all pissy while presenting an award when the host that year, Jon Steward, had the gall to poke fun at one of his acting buddies. Then there’s Kate Winslet, who gave yet another ultra calculated and rehearsed tearful acceptance speech. Yay. It would have been nice to see Meryl Streep nab another award; even though I didn’t see Doubt, I?m assuming she was amazing in it, since it’s Meryl Streep we’re talking about, the greatest actress of our time. As for Winslet, some say she only won because she’s been nominated several times but never won before, and I absolutely loathe that way of thinking. No one should get an award after the fact, period.

- Finally, here we have What I Want For Christmas (the trailer, part one, and part two), which aired on Gameplay HD this past holiday season. So what?s so special about it? Well, aside from the fact that Dave’s gal pal is the star, I was actually supposed to be in it! Unfortunately, things just didn’t work out in the end, yet I’m not entirely sure what role I would have played… certainly not the host, since I’m definitely not as cute and spunky and whatnot. Then again, it’s just as well; I’m pretty sure shilling Too Human would have done more harm than good for my career.

Here?s a fun-fact: the dude that runs the Cremaster Fanatic blog used to be a student of mine! His final was this FPS shooter that was actually this gigantic food fight at a middle school and it was easily the best game of that entire class.

Less Than An Hour Of Street Fighter 4/Over Twice As Much On The Subway

As we all know, last night (make that two nights ago technically, since it’s early Tuesday in the a.m. as I write this) was the Academy Awards, the Oscars, which as I like to explain to people is more or less the Super Bowl for myself and Joe Simko. As retarded as it might sound, our idea of a fun time is sitting through the entire affair, from red carpet to closing credits, despite the fact that we’re genuinely disgusted and often angered by it’s pomp and pageantry, among all the other ridiculousness that’s put on display. And why? Because we both love everything about movies, the good along with the bad, and it’s just hella fun getting drunk, eating tons of junk food (especially deviled eggs, and oh man, does Joe ever know how to make ‘em), and yelling at the TV. Again, like most heterosexual men do when it comes to football and Super Bowl Sunday.

Speaking off, I’ve made mention of the somewhat awkward graphics in the past, but have been waiting to pass final judgment till I got the chance to sit down with it. The verdict? It just looks weird, man, no way to get around it. The character designs, for the males in particular, are just plain heinous. Especially for the fat dudes; Honda has muscles on his big fat belly for some bizarre reason, and then there’s the new tub of lard Rufus, who’s ginormous belly is just plain distracting. The new characters, with the exception of El Fuerte the luchadore simply doesn’t do it for me. There’s just way too many faces, new and old, that wear gi’s. And speaking of old faces, they brought back Dan. Wow. Talk about a waste of space. Audio-wise, that Backstreet Boys-esque intro song? Hilarious.

- Katie passed this one along, also earlier this afternoon: a LittleBigPlanet level inspired by Matthew Barney’s Cremaster 1! Simply outstanding. Oh, and here we have one by the same author, based upon The Order in Cremaster 3, which is also very neat, though I really wish it featured Agnostic Front and Murphy’s Law in some fashion.

- And courtesy of Kotaku is this training video for GameStop employees on how to handle… as well as exploit… female customers. To be honest, as far as wacky internet vids by large companies for their sheep goes, it’s rather tame. But still filled with plenty of lulz.

Mickey Rourke Was Robbed, End Of Story

But back to Street Fighter 4: how does the final, home version stack up? To be honest, the most helpful info can be found courtesy of Dave and company at the fort90forum. With a guest appearance by the my creepy internet stalker! Though I’ll simply reiterate everyone’s main beef by also stating, Christ, is this game ever broken or what. I struggled to get anywhere with any of the characters, since I flat out suck at Street Fighter (yet Dave has also stated that pulling off supers is, for some reason, very difficult), but once I had Zangielf, it was one unintentional cheap victory after another. Otherwise, SF4 plays it… very safely. It’s not the grand step forward that Third Strike was, that’s for damn sure. As Joe Salina aptly noted, Capcom could have easily called this title Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix and called it a day.

So how did this year’s stack up? It was long and boring and stupid, but that was to be expected. In fact, that’s half the fun right there! Though it was particularly bad this time around. I give them points for trying some new things, like getting previous winners to present the best actor and actress awards, despite some questionable choices and their awkward gaffs. And all those fancy backdrops for certain categories, like costume and set design, I thought was really neat. Yet for the most part, the presentation was piss-poor, with no real ebb and flow to the proceedings what so ever, along with a severe lack of clarity. Like how instead of evenly distributing all the musical performances like usual, everything was forced upon you at once, which made them especially unbearable. Though the absolute worst was when they were highlighting all the people that had passed away last year; you could barely make out the names of the people, and forget about making out their achievements, thanks to the constantly moving camera along with how the monitors that showed everything was too far away. I guess they assumed that everyone at home has 60 feet wide HD television screens. At least it was pretty awesome how during Jennifer Aniston’s bit, they kept cutting to Jolie and Pitt, something most Oscar directors are traditionally too chicken-sh*t to do. Equally brilliant was how whenever graphics were used, in the bottom right corner of the screen, all one could do was focus on the constantly looping clip of Kung Fu Panda.

- Afterwards we met with Robin whom I accidentally punched in the face. I’ll skip the explanation and simply state that I felt pretty bad. Anyway, we had dinner at Dojo’s and went out to Brooklyn for Liz Baillie’s book release/Joe Flood’s birthday/chilie party. The chili, which was hyped up by Robin beforehand, more than lived up to it, and equally delicious was the ice cream cake. Most folks there were comic books geeks of the super hero variety, so perhaps it was no surprise than that virtually everyone there either has or is currently working at Forbidden Planet, including Liz’s husband Zane. Everyone once in a while I’ll get in these kicks that makes me want to get back into super hero comics, and naturally, given the crowd and after seeing X3 earlier in the day, my interest was again piqued. I have always been a Marvel guy, but I’ve always paid attention to the DC Universe and has been thinking of using the latest summer event (Infinity Crisis) to finally make the plunge. But always in the end, I loose interest, though this time I have to attribute it to Zane’s thoughts on the whole thing: “Dude, Superboy punches a hole through the galaxy. Lame.”

I guess its been both a fairly laid-back, yet somewhat eventful past couple of days…

- As for earlier in the day, MK finally got the chance to look through all my photo albums, which are mostly pics taken during college and a few years afterwards. She couldn’t stop laughing at all the pics of all my various friends and their previous wacky hairstyles (mostly ponytails), nor all the ones of me and my fluctuating weight. Anyone who’s known me for a while is well aware of my obsession with my weight, which is admittedly sorta gay (though perhaps not as much as my fussiness in regards to my hair), and my burning desire to get at thin as possible. But MK, like a few other women I’ve known for a while, also thought I looked pretty stupid (and unhealthy) when at my skinniest. I guess that stereotype that girls don’t mind a little belly is not bullshit after-all.

… Apparently, gay guys love Link.

… Do you have a Power Glove and are you sick and tired of trying to play NES games with it? Well have you tried hacking it?

… A quick glance through the NeoGAF turned up these two interesting topics: here someone asks about a rhythm-based stock market game that Konami game was developing a whiles back, and Sony it would seem is taking their “Sony Style” notion a bit too far.

- As for tonight, another GNG (Gamer’s Nite Groove) is taking place and I’ll be checking it out. I used to go to them all the time, but to an ever increasing schedule, I’ve had to miss the last couple. Truth be told, I really shouldn’t be going out tonight, plus its in Willamsburg, a slice of Brooklyn I’m not entirely fond of. But tonight’s is billed as the Tetsuya Mizuguchi Game Special, so I sorta have to be there.

- Didn’t get too much web surfing in over the weekend (I just things its sorta dumb surfing gaming message boards when the weather’s so nice outside), though I did come across some interesting tidbits…

… Thanks to ShaperMC, I’ve come to discover that Schadenfreude Interactive, the makers of Accordion Hero, apparently has a whole slew of games. Their Grand Theft Automan simply looks hot.

- Thursday night was shitty movie night with MK, Robin, and Matt Singer. First was some burritos at St. Marks, then we went right across the street to Kim’s Videos to find out feature for the night. After an exhaustive search through their massive collection (it easily the biggest assortment of insanely bizarre and stupidly bad films one will ever find), we decided upon, and rather easily with, For Your Height Only, a 007 knock-off from the Philippines starring a midget. We also picked up Caligula Reincarnated as Hitler (also known as Last Orgy of the Third Reich according to the internet) since it looked like it could be fun (at least to me).

But controls are where things start to fall apart; the game uses either the right analogue stick for gas and break/reversal, which I’m never too fond off in any racing game, but its far better than using the face buttons since their pressure sensitive. Nothing feels worse than wondering why you’re not going fast enough till you realize that you have to press down on the X button really hard, till your right arm is about to fall off. As I said, it almost feels like Burnout, in the sense that Shox almost feels like a test bed for ideas later down the road, and one is the use of dramatic angles when pulling off a dramatic jump. At first its really nice to see and hear everything slow down as your car gets some crazy air-time… that is till you land, because 50% of the time your car wobbles out of control, sometimes turning onto its side or roof, and all of a sudden, you go from first to last. Another annoying thing is the sometimes inconsistent and often always rubber-band A.I. The first heat is six races, and you need get an average of first place to advance. I got first place in the fourth and fifth race my first time, but after literally twelve attempts, I still can’t get anything above fifth place in the second race, all because of the last big hill that guarantees a wipeout each and every-time. Also, Shox is the very first rally racer, hell any racer, in which you don’t get a map of the track.

… So Sega at one point had a remote control-like interface for their Dreamcast. Note: yes, I’m well aware that everyone has come up with something similar at one point.

… I can’t wait to try out Dot Fighters:

Put some more time in Blood Will Tell and finally hit a wall, mainly the ultra-shitty camera. At one point I couldn’t use the map on the upper right hand corner of the screen due to the color of the environment of a particular level. Lame. And the combo portion of the combat, which has an almost DDR feel is something I just can’t get used to (and since its pretty much useless, there’s real no incentive to work at it). Plus, it makes no sense that certain enemies take about seven sword slashes to kill as the bionic samurai and just one or two scrawny punches from the kid (still can’t figure out if its a boy or girl) to take down. Still the story is awesome… I have to check if the manga is available anywhere.

Challenge of the Tiger stars Bruce Le, not Lee but Le, one of the many “no one’s gonna notice that its not the same guy and the different spelled last name… all Orientals looks alike, and they all know karate anyways” actors that popped up in Hong Kong cinema in the early 80’s, and Richard Harrison as the token cool white ass-kicking ladies man in Hong Kong. All that really needs to be said is that in the first ten or so minutes, we catch Richard at his palatial estate where he has a whole gaggle of white women playing tennis totally topless. But it gets better! Though I can’t explain why, due to mind-dumbing amounts of fight scenes; the very best one featured a a slide in the foreground which we all watched with bated breathe, waiting for some poor shmuck to slide down to his death. Plus you had the same five generic henchmen getting shot over and over again, and film’s femme fatale looked like a sickly cancer patient (you can always tell a film’s budget by how “hot” the hot chick is supposed to be). Basically, it was awesome.

First up was For Your Height Only, which again stars a midget, as Weng Weng, Agent 00. Its just like any James Bond flick, meaning there’s plenty of action, though for the most part its just Weng Weng punching people in the crotch, sliding around on linoleum floors to get in some cheap shot (most to the back&#8230,Replica Chanel; guess honors a bit different in the Philippines), and getting tossed around when pulling out the kung-fu (here’s a short clip that should give you a good idea of the action). Plus when he does actual spy-work, he runs around bent over, as not to be seen, but considering he’s three feet… you know. Also like Bond, he loves the ladies, and the ladies love him. Given that Weng Weng acts throughout the entire film like an abducted 7 year old that’s on ludes, it was hardly surprising that his interaction with women was also awkward, but it was surprising that despite his tiny stature that he has one thing that’s as big as any normal sized man. His nipples. Plus, like Bond, he has his toys, like a jetpack (a teeny-tiny one, of course) and assorted bad men with goofy names, including The Big Guy, who’s a huge fat guy dressed all in red, and Weng Weng’s archenemies, Mr. Giant who (surprise!) is also a midget, though a slightly taller one.

- Earlier in the week Millennium seasons 2 & 3 arrived so on Friday night I showed her both the Jose Chung’s Doomsday Defense episode, as well as the one with the four demons having coffee and donuts and shooting the shit one as well. And yesterday, before getting back to work, I watched the two part closer to the second season, to see if it was indeed as good as I remember, and it certainly was (though I had totally forgotten about the Patty Smith “music video” part).

- And on Saturday MK & I case X-Men 3. I went in expecting pure shit, mostly due to all the warning signs, as pointed out by the movie night crew, and my own general feelings with Bryan Singer not being involved, and I left pleasantly surprised. It was actually pretty decent! Not X-Men 2 good, but on par with the first flick to a certain degree. It’s far from perfect, such as how one of the coolest parts (which I’m not going to spoil, even though everyone I personally know saw it already; even though I hate seeing films on opening weekends, I simply had to for this one, since I knew everyone would be talking about it) simply sheds light on a major flaw the series has had since the first movie. But at the very least, there were some genuine surprises, and once again, it was neat seeing characters pop-up here and there, even if there’s not much fanfare. The film definitely could have used more Multiple Man. And Vinny Jones as well (naturally). Once again, the film could have been totall shit, much like the previous two flicks, if not for some of the actors. Though I still say Iman should have been Storm and not Halle Berry since day one, especially after this movie.

… Here’s an interview with one of the mind’s behind the Bob Ross game coming out for the Wii.

Next was Caligula Reincarnated as Hitler which started out with a ten minute sequence of shots featuring rolling hills from inside a car, which made everyone afraid that it was going to be Manos the Hands of Fate II. Later we transported back in time to an all female concentration camp where a bunch of naked Hilter Youth are given a room full of Jewish girls (all of which has blonde hair curiously enough) to ravage and then turns into a huge orgy. I would imagine that the filmmakers went to some small Austrian village, one that’s poor and had tons of able-bodied young women to make this movie, and in the process scared everyone for life. Anyway, and needless to say, this ended up bumming everyone out, so we turned it off after thirty minutes (which I guess was a good move, since I’ve since discovered that A. the whole movie is three hours plus and B. its apparently not very good). To save the evening, we decided to watch Challenge of the Tiger, which was the second film on the double feature disc that For Your Height Only was on. And you’d think that any kung-fu shlock would have an impossible time following up on a king-fu/spy midget epic. But as it would turn out…

- Also got to finally play the pair of Gamefly games that’s been collecting dust all week. First was Shox, a little known game that came out in either 2002 or 2003 from EA. I’d always been curious about it back when the game was readily available at Game Express for $20 and I always sorta regretted not picking it up after the store closed its doors. Basically, its an arcade rally racer that’s fun to play, and quite a few things going for it that unfortunately gets undermined by just a few, but rather glaring negatives. On the plus side, the graphics are pretty top-notch, especially for a PS2 title back then, and the music is decent, especially for an EA game. The overall atmosphere is quite nice; every-thing’s energetic and fast-paced, almost like the nucleus of something that is later seen in the EA Burnout games. The game is set up like any other racing game: you have three laps to beat out five other cars for first place. You win money based on performance which is used towards buying new cars (you can also loose money for slamming up your car, but its never something ridiculous, just a few dollars here and there). Once interesting element is the ability to place bets on a car; win a race and you get the car, but loose and you also forfeit a good chunk of your money. Another nice small touch are “Shox Zones”; there are three sections of road in each track that once entered starts a timer and then you have a small amount of time to reach the end. Do it in the best time possible gets you a gold, fare okay you get silver, or average gets bronze. This mini race within a race is nice touch and really adds to the tension.

I decided to go to the old part of Istanbul very early one morning to make some location recordings. I approached our Turkish driver and asked him whether he could pick me up at the hotel around 3am. He said he would be waiting in front. The next morning I got into his car with my DAT recorder and a microphone and he took me to some choice spots around town.

There is something special about moments like these… like two ships passing on the ocean…

I spent about an hour recording sounds and when I was ready to go back to the hotel, the driver instead took me to a little bar or cafe right by the Bospherus. It was still cold by the river as the city was waking up. The driver insisted on buying me coffee and while I drank the wonderful and bitter brew the sun cleared the horizon. I enjoyed that this man, who spoke practically no English, and whom I had asked to get up so early, nevertheless took me to one of his hang-outs and bought me coffee.

What I remember most fondly from our first trip to Istanbul – we went again in 1997 to perform a public concert with the XL band – is, of course, a human gesture. It was fantastic to see the underground water storage halls of the Ottomans, it was great to see the mosques (the ostrich eggs that hang in all of the mosques keep the spiders away), to walk around the great bazaar,Replica Chanel, to drink Turkish coffee etc. etc… but one gesture stands out in my mind.

Later I learned that since the driver lived quite a distance from our hotel and since he was working late the night before, he slept in the car in order to pick me up so early.

It’s a problem I have with theme-parks in general – loud music everywhere… drives me crazy… Luckily, Jon + Robby went out and brought back some food for me.

The instore in Orlando on Thursday, the last one for this tour,Replica Chanel, was fun. The man, who won the guitar, said he already had a bunch of guitars and passed it on to a wide-eyed kid who could not believe his luck!

I was touched by the story of a couple who had driven to Orlando from their destroyed home in Southern Florida to catch our performance. It feels so good to be able to share the power of music with people.

Now for the positive side – the club sounded very good and Jon really enjoyed the sound of his bass. The place was packed, and people were waiting outside in case someone might give up their seat and leave.

“Our driver has stated that he was not involved in this incident,” band spokesman John Vlautin said in a statement.

The state of Illinois sued the Dave Matthews Band on Tuesday for allegedly dumping up to 800 pounds of liquid human waste from a bus into the Chicago River, dousing a tour boat filled with passengers.

The lawsuit accuses the band and one of its bus drivers of violating state water pollution and public nuisance laws. It seeks $70,000 in civil penalties.
